Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket
For Over 30 years the Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket, a non-profit organization with numerous volunteers and generous donors, have made an outstanding effort in helping the Wimberley community fight hunger and provide support for those in need. In 1986, CBB (Crisis Bread Basket) was created by several churches with their goal to provide food donations for people fighting hunger within the Wimberley Valley. Over the years, the Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket has created a safe place for people to reach out for help and make it an everyday priority to curing hunger – one family at a time.
Wimberley Habitat for Humanity
The Wimberley Habitat for Humanity was established in 1992 as a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Wimberley Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing within our area. This is accomplished with volunteer workers, generous donors, prayer partners, and the homeowners (Partners) who are required to work in building their house.
The Hays/Caldwell Women and Children’s Center
This organization helps women and children who are victims of abuse. Their primary focus is to provide education, violence prevention services and crisis intervention to those in need of being rescued from a dangerous, unsafe and/or an abusive situation. This Center began in the late 1970’s, when a kind woman saw a young woman walking from Kyle to San Marcos carrying a baby in one arm and her other arm appearing to be injured, she stopped to see if she could help her. After hearing how the young women was injured (beat up and broken arm) from the abusive treatment received from her husband, the kind woman took her to receive medical treatment, gave her and the baby some food plus found them a safe place to stay for the night. In 2019, the HCWC saved 2,307 victims and 934 of them were children.
Crusade for Christ (Cru) – Texas State University, San Marcos
Cru, the US Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, has been a campus organization at Texas State since 1971. Cru at Texas State University group’s vision is to introduce students and faculty to Jesus Christ, build them up in their faith while in college, and launch them out to change the world when they graduate. Cru exists to see lives changed by helping people find and follow Jesus. This inter-denominational Christian ministry was founded by Bill and Vonette Bright in 1951, on the campus of UCLA. It now has become one of the largest missions’ organizations in the world with a presence in as many as 190 countries.
Salvation Army
“Doing the Most Good” is the Salvation Army’s logo. This organization is valued for their wide array of capabilities in providing help to those in need due to an emergency disaster. The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. When the disastrous flood hit Wimberley in 2015, the Salvation Army service volunteers and staff provided hot meals, food boxes, cold drinks and much-needed hygiene supplies to residents and crews cleaning up from the damaging flood.
Thai Christian Foundation (TCF)
Thai Christian Foundation is inspired by over 50 years of service by Allan and Joan Eubank. Compelled by the Love of Jesus Christ, The Thai Christian Foundation, actively works to identify, strengthen, and equip individuals and organizations through support of Christian evangelism, education, leadership training, reconciliation and humanitarian service in Thailand and where God leads. The Thai Christian Foundation seeks to be a strong U.S. based organization that promotes and manages the financial support of the programs and ministries that fall under it.
Free Burma Rangers Foundation (FBR)
Free Burma Rangers Foundation (FBR) is a humanitarian organization that provides medical spiritual and educational resources for displaced people inside Burman, Kurdistan, Iraq, and Syria regardless of ethnicity or religion. With the help of a network of indigenous field teams, FBR reports on human rights abuses, casualties and the humanitarian needs of people who are under oppression. FBR is led by David Eubank who “wants to share the love that Jesus shares and to help people follow Jesus.
